Beyond the Known
A Workshop on Curiosity
With Tomasz Prasqual and Heather O’Donnell
Curiosity is the force that drives us beyond our habits and assumptions. It invites us to see the world with new eyes – to discover the extraordinary in the ordinary, to embrace wonder and to challenge the limits of our understanding. But curiosity is also fragile. It can be dulled by routine, suppressed by fear and overshadowed by expectations. While most children are born with an insatiable curiosity about the world, it often fades as they grow older and their responsibilities increase.
But curiosity is not just an innate trait; it is also a skill that can be cultivated and relearned. It begins with the way we approach even the simplest activities – with attention, care and openness. When we shift our energy from routine tasks to active exploration, the world unfolds in unexpected ways. But it only becomes truly interesting when we actively focus our attention on these new paths.
This workshop invites you to awaken and strengthen your own curiosity – not as a fleeting impulse, but as a lifelong resource. Through guided exercises, reflection and sensory exploration, we experience curiosity as a living force:
Children, be curious. Nothing is worse (I know it) than when curiosity stops. Nothing is more repressive than the repression of curiosity. Curiosity begets love. It weds us to the world. It's part of our perverse, madcap love for this impossible planet we inhabit. People die when curiosity goes. People have to find out, people have to know.
